ABOUT LISA TYRRELL
Lisa is an internationally acclaimed singer with an extensive career as a principal performer in all areas of theatre.
She became wildly known as the creator of new roles after her long and celebrated affiliation with Sir Peter Maxwell Davis. Lisa created the role of the child in his opera “the Doctor of Myddfai” for Welsh National Opera and went on to premiere two more of his works: “Jacobite Rising” and “Sea Elegy”. Lisa also created the role of the “Mother of Rimbaud” at Opera of Montpellier.
Less well-known are Lisa’s theatre and musical work – her first professional role was at Chichester Festival Theatre in “Born Again” alongside Mandy Patinkin. Lisa’s many accomplishments include the part of “Rose” in “Street Scene” in Canada, “Little Red Riding Hood” in “Into the Woods” and the title role “Lyssi”, recorded and performed in France at the Avignon Festival.
Lisa is an Alumni of Chetham's School of Music, starting her training as a singer at age 11, with piano as her second study. She continued her training at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she achieved a distinction in her final year and was awarded the Wyburd Trust Award and the Frederick George Painter Prize.
Lisa is also a Wingate Scholar and, more recently, was awarded the transmission fund from HelpMusicians. Following this, she spent a year as a resident artist at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, studying Musical Theatre.
